Leeds United v Crewe Alex Preview

22nd April 2006

What is more important at this stage, a win or a good performance? I say on this occasion a win - something we haven't had for 8 games - is what we need just to give the boys some confidence before the play offs.

It looks like Steve Stone is going to be ready for the play offs after all barring any injury recurrence, which will give us more options tactically. I expect him to start today as I think will Eirik Bakke, who is getting back to some sort of form and could be a vital player in the play offs.

The main thing today is that we avoid injuries to key players and the best way to do that is to not play any key men other than those who need the matches like Bakke and Stone. I think KB may keep the likes of Hulse and Derry out of today’s game meaning Simon Walton should get a start alongside Bakke in midfield.

We have not beaten the already relegated opposition in 3 attempts since relegation but we could not have wished for better opponents at this stage of the season. Already relegated, likely to experiment and not a team of cloggers.

Eddie Lewis needs a run out after being rested recently as does Robbie Blake after recovering from the mystery virus but the exact line up is anybody's guess.

No injuries and 3 points would be ideal before next week's final game against possible play off rivals Preston who definitely fancy themselves at the moment.

Next week's team selection should be even more interesting than this week's, though personally I would send out a reserve team and kick the shit out of them but more on that later in the week.

I think we will win today but contrary to what a lot of people think I do not think it is vital to finish 3rd or 4th and get home advantage in the second leg of the play offs. We often get better vocal support away from home and we have not lost away from home to any of our rivals all season.

Leicester City v Leeds United Preview

17th February 2006

Another big crowd is expected at Walker's Stadium for the visit of the Mighty Whites tomorrow - it's likely to be Leicester’s best crowd of the season, proving once again that we are still the team that people want to see and beat in this division.
We have no Shaun Derry tomorrow as was the case when we played Leicester earlier in the season, but otherwise the rest of Tuesday night’s squad is available. I think Derry will be a big miss though he has not been as effective in recent weeks as he was before he came back from injury.

Simon Walton could replace Derry with Eirik Bakke probably keeping the bench warm, Robbie Blake has to play after the win over Watford with either Rob Hulse or Richard Cresswell joining him, depending on who is the fittest.
For Leicester, keeper Rab Douglas is probably out, but nutter Danny Tiatto could be back.

My Opinion: They're in good form at the moment as is everybody we seem to play these days but I fancy us to make it 6 unbeaten in the league.

Prediction - 1-2 victory for us.

Leeds v Sheffield Wednesday Preview

20th January 2006

The biggest crowd of the season is expected on Saturday when The Owls visit The Mighty Whites.
The oppo have been in decent form recently and the news that we are definitely without Killa I think gives them a chance of some sort of result, especially if KB replaces him with Gregan.

Also out for Leeds is Rob Hulse and possibly Miller and Lewis. Simon Walton will come in somewhere possibly at centre back and Derry should be fit but Eirik Bakke cannot play until next month.
The opposition has no injury problems which is good for them as they do not have a squad.

Because of the lack of cover at centre back I am concerned we will concede tomorrow and therefore predict 2 – 2, possibly 2 – 1 to us as we will definitely score and should have the capability to get more than them.
Should be the best atmosphere of season against the second biggest club in Yorkshire.

Come on you Leeds!!!
