Gary Kelly became only the 10th player in our history to make 500 appearances for the club and there were an extra couple of thousand on the gate (23,600) to see it.

We have now gone 7 games unbeaten for the first time this season and though we have ridden our luck at times recently, including this particular contest, we are becoming very hard to beat.
KB made just one change from last weeks team with Eirik Bakke not surprisingly dropping to the bench, being replaced by David Healy. Luton left Warren Feeney on the bench.

Luton started the better and Sean Gregan who has led a charmed life recently almost immediately gave away a free kick near the half way line, Coyne unmarked met the free kick 8 yards out with a volley but blasted over. We did not create much of note until the 25th minute when Eddie Lewis managed to get one on one with Luton keeper, Beresford but the keeper managed to turn it away for a corner. After that it was all Leeds but in common with other recent games our final ball was not good enough and Luton showed they were not out of it when Kevin Foley headed over from close in just before the break.

HT 0-0

The Whites looked more up for it when they came out for the second half and Robbie Blake headed wide before we got this week's helping hand: Gregan clearly handled in his own box but no penalty was awarded, we went down the other end and after 4 or 5 passes Jonathan Douglas finished the move he started firing into the Luton net, it was one of the best worked goals I have seen us score for some time.
Three minutes later on 53 it should have been game over as Rob Hulse managed to cut the ball back across the face of goal for Eddie Lewis to slot home, 2-0.

After 70 minutes Blackwell brought on Eirik Bakke to replace David Healy and shore up midfield and it seemed we had taken the sting out of the game as little was happening at either end until the 83rd minute when Steve Howard rose above our defence and nodded in, 2-1 and we were in for a tense last 5 minutes.
Both teams had good chances to score again before the finish, with Rob Hulse missing from close in for us, Sol Davis was sent off for Luton on 90 minutes and we held out.

FT 2-1

The best news of the day came when we found out the blunts had cocked up at home to QPR, they are starting to panic but are still odds on for that last promotion spot, they have some relatively easy games coming up whereas we have a few tough ones including 2 encounters with Palace. If we can keep the gap as it is until we play our extra game against Palace at the end of the month, 5 points is nothing to make up in 7 games.
